POSITION: Part-Time Field Technician
PAY RATE: $40- $50/hr
LOCATION: Central Florida
We are seeking a highly independent and reliable Wastewater Field Technician with a Florida Grade C Wastewater Operator License to perform maintenance, installations, and sampling for
wastewater monitoring systems. This role requires a mix of hardware and software skills, with responsibilities ranging from sensor installations to data tracking and system maintenance. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, diligent, and comfortable working independently while managing wastewater infrastructure. This position offers flexible, part-time work with an emphasis on quality control, record-keeping, and efficient field operations.
DUTIES:
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on wastewater monitoring hardware.
- Ensure proper function of sensors, samplers, and software integration.
- Conduct preventive maintenance to avoid system failures.
- Install new sensors, samplers, and other monitoring systems.
- Work safely in manholes and confined spaces (verify if a second worker is required).
- Ensure all installations align with regulatory and operational standards.
- Collect wastewater samples within a 24-hour window (as per scheduling requirements).
- Handle and transport samples following industry safety and compliance standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation and tracking of collected samples.
- Maintain storage and workspace for hardware repairs.
- Provide 2-3 hours of technical support monthly (troubleshooting and documentation).
- Manage tools, equipment, and vehicle logistics for site visits.
REQUIREMENTS
- Must hold a valid Florida Grade C Wastewater Operator License.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in wastewater operations, fieldwork, or related roles.
- Technical proficiency with hardware maintenance, software logging, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to work in confined spaces (manholes, sewer systems) and follow safety protocols.
- Reliable and self-motivated – must manage tasks independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong record-keeping skills – accurate data logging and reporting required.
- Must have a vehicle and own tools for site visits.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with sensor installations and automated sampling systems.
- Knowledge of wastewater compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Comfortable using app-based monitoring systems.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Schedule:
Initial phase: 4-6 days per month.
Ongoing work: Potential flexibility for more work if new clients are added.
Emergency or on-call work possible based on system needs.
- Physical Demands:
Work in outdoor and confined spaces (e.g., manholes, pumping stations).
Lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
Exposure to wastewater environments.
MUST HAVES FOR ROLE:
- Utility Pants: Employees must wear durable utility pants suitable for the work environment.
- Safety Shoes: Steel-toed or other appropriate safety shoes are mandatory to protect against workplace hazards.
- Candidates must consent to and pass a background check and drug screening as part of the hiring process.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
