TITLE: Industrial Wastewater Operator
SALARY: $19/ - $25/hr
LOCATION: Sebastian County, Arkansas
SCHEDULE: Third shift: 11:00 pm – 7:00 am
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Preventative Maintenance and Repair (Oil Changes, Belt Replacement, Lubrication)
- Housekeeping
- Building Maintenance (Painting, Sanding, Cleaning)
- Mechanical repair or replacement (Centrifugal Pumps, Air Diaphragm Pumps, Centrifugal Blowers)
- Piping installations or repairs (within confine of WW system)
- Chemical Feed Pump repair or replacement
- Electrical troubleshooting
- Coordinate with plant personnel for maintenance projects requiring downtime
- Provide quotes for parts, as necessary
- Troubleshooting of system issues and problems
REQUIRED TO ASSIST AND MONITOR:
- Treatment of wastewater influent, local discharge permit parameters.
- Application of proper chemical dosages to precipitation system to treat the wastewater to local discharge parameters
- Analytical testing on wastewater discharge to insure proper treatment
- Spectrophotometer testing
- General lab testing for process control
- Jar Testing for Treatability or System Improvement
- Management of Wastewater for Key Performance Parameters
- Total Suspended Solids (TSS)
- Total Volatile Solids (VSS)
- Metals (where applicable)
- Total Phosphorus
- Ammonia
- Total Solids
- COD
- BOD (outsourced)
- Oil/Grease (outsourced)
- pH
- DO
- Temperature
- Nitrate
- Nitrite
- On-going data review
- Equipment inspections
- Chemical feed usage review and tracking
- Operational cost analysis – “cost per gallon”
- Plant operation discussion with plant personnel
- Creation and Updating of a Standard Operating Procedures Manual
- Based on the key control parameter results, provide troubleshooting guide to respond to upset conditions
- 24/7 Emergency Contact for troubleshooting assistance and decision - making.
- Monthly written report of the activities of the preceding month and plant performance
- Weekly report of chemical consumption and inventory, effluent testing results, and solids removal quantities
- Logging of wastewater activities and discharge data in daily logbook, and/or electronic database, along with statistical process charts
- Sampling coordination with contracted outside laboratory
- Operation of Filter Press
- Sludge handling
- Management of waste (coordination with site contractor for waste disposal)
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
- Industrial Maintenance (Mechanical and/or Electrical): 1 year (Required)
- High school or equivalent (Required)
- Language: English (Required)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to frequently lift 50-60 pounds; load, unload & move large equipment/tools; access confined spaces; continuously walk and climb stairs and ladders.
MUST HAVES FOR ROLE:
- Utility Pants: Employees must wear durable utility pants suitable for the work environment.
- Safety Shoes: Steel-toed or other appropriate safety shoes are mandatory to protect against workplace hazards.
- Candidates must consent to and pass a background check and drug screening as part of the hiring process.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
