Ground Crew Team Member
District-wide
Hours: 6:30 am -3:00 pm
Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Grounds Crew Member to join our maintenance team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for landscape maintenance and enhancement. This position is an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic education environment and contribute to the beautification of varied and diverse properties.
The Grounds Crew Team Member assists in the maintenance and beautification of school grounds and landscapes. This role involves performing a variety of landscaping tasks, including mowing, planting, trimming, and general groundskeeping duties, under the supervision of a Grounds Crew Leader.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in landscaping or grounds maintenance.
- Basic knowledge of horticulture and landscaping practices.
- Ability to operate and maintain landscaping tools and equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Strong work ethic and ability to perform physical labor.
- Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license.
Performance Duties:
- Mow, trim, and edge lawns using hand or power tools.
- Plant, water, and maintain trees, shrubs, flowers, and other vegetation.
- Weed and mulch flower beds and landscaped areas.
- Rake leaves, clear debris, and ensure general cleanliness of the grounds.
- Operate landscaping machinery such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, saws, and edgers.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Report any equipment issues to the Grounds Crew Leader.
- Assist in installing and maintaining irrigation systems.
- Monitor and adjust irrigation schedules to ensure efficient water use.
- Repair minor irrigation system malfunctions as needed.
- Follow all safety guidelines and district policies.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) during tasks.
- Participate in safety training sessions and comply with all safety procedures.
- Assist with the setup and teardown of school events as needed.
- Participate in seasonal tasks such as snow removal and leaf collection.
- Work collaboratively with team members to complete tasks efficiently and effectively.
- All other duties as assigned.
Working Hours: Full-time hours based on the operational needs of the school district.

- Current (less than one-year old) clearances: Child Abuse, PA State Police Criminal History, FBI Fingerprint Record
- Completion of PA Act 168 Disclosure Release Form(s)
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds.
- Stamina to perform manual labor, including standing, walking, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Hourly Rate: $22.77
