Position Summary

Electronics Technician (Level B) is responsible for building, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying aerospace systems and electronic production equipment. Apply principles and theories of electronics, electrical circuitry, and engineering mathematics while performing electrical assembly, tests, and troubleshooting. Adheres to written quality guidelines, principles, and procedures while building, troubleshooting, and performing maintenance on aerospace systems. This position does not immediately require a security clearance, but applicants must have the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reads and interprets wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, technical drawings, and engineering instructions for assembling electronics units.
  • Maintains adherence in policies and procedures during performance of testing electronics units using standard test equipment including digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, optical multimeters, power supplies, frequency generators, and special purpose test equipment.
  • Maintains meticulous records and results for all testing, evaluation, written procedures, and specifications procedures.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and calibration of electronic/optical aerospace systems.
  • Assembles, tests, and maintains electronic circuitry according to engineering instructions and technical manuals.
  • Adjusts or replaces defective or improperly functioning circuitry or electronics components using hand tools.
  • Maintains system logs or manuals to document testing or operation of equipment.
  • Works on cable assembly fabrication. Able to create, assemble, modify or test unique cable assemblies using wiring diagrams.
  • Identifies and resolves equipment malfunctions, working with manufacturers or field representatives as necessary to procure replacement parts.
  • Optomechanical: bonding of optics in mechanical assemblies, assembly and testing of individual optical components, alignment on optical benches, or completed assemblies.
  • Component-level troubleshooting. Using schematics and manual electronic test equipment to isolate out of tolerance components on circuit card assemblies and subassemblies, applying electronic theory and components knowledge.
  • Write reports or record data on testing techniques, laboratory equipment, or specifications to assist engineers.
  • Ability to support travel or off-site work, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent
  • 4 years of related experience.
  • An active U.S. Government Security Clearance or the ability to obtain a Clearance (current SSBI is preferred).
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the electronic/optics fields.
  • Knowledge of supporting OSHA, HAZMAT, and shop tools and practices.
  • Proficiency in Electrical/Electronic Troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in multiple Program's Systems, assemblies, production, testing, and evaluations.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and be able to follow highly complex instructions.
  • Ability to perform surface mount component solder work and rework using a microscope and hand soldering equipment.
  • Knowledge to correctly identify electronic components on a schematic drawing.
  • Knowledge of electronic test equipment, specifically: oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, frequency generators, programmable power supplies, etc.
  • Ability to solder circuit boards, through hole and surface mount; and basic soldering required for wiring and wire harnesses.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification or diploma in an electronics technical discipline or equivalent formal military technical training.
  • Soldering IPC J-STD Certification


Working Environment & Physical Activities

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to noise, dust, heat, cold, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration.
  • Work duties may be performed in a clean room with appropriate PPE.
  • Must occasionally lift and move items over 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Operates hand truck and pallet jack to assist in shipping/receiving duties, as needed.
  • This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, or crouching.
