THE OPPORTUNITY AT HAND
You’ll act as an Ophthalmic Technician while taking the next step in your career by supervising our staff within the clinical technical department and ensuring all processes and procedures are being followed. It will be your responsibility to ensure peak patient flow, triage emergency situations and problem solve to ensure our clinic runs as smoothly as possible.
OUR EXPECTATIONS OF YOU
- Operate as a technician or scribe, support with triaging, patient care and clinic flow, as well as possess the ability to perform ancillary testing within the office
- Assist Ophthalmologists/Optometrists in all areas of patient exams and in office procedures
- Assist with and publish the clinical staff schedule
- Assure staffing is in line with SOP, monitor staffing needs, including PTO approval and coordination of staff coverage with other office locations
- Meet with providers and office manager weekly to understand clinical strengths and areas of opportunity
- Responsible for training and developing technical staff in your clinic
- Participate in all office related HR activities (i.e. hiring, progressive discipline, firing, performance review process)
- Maintain inventory of and process orders for clinical instruments and medical supplies
- Perform first level maintenance on ophthalmic equipment, communicate need for repairs or replacement to office manager, IT department and/or administration
- Efficiently Balance administrative responsibilities and support clinical staff and providers (timely respond to emails)
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED
- You’re a natural leader and enjoy the training aspect of your job as well as can adapt to changes in the work environment
- Experience as an Ophthalmic Technician and can successfully carryout all the duties of an ophthalmic level 2 technician, including manual refraction
- You’re comfortable performing ancillary/diagnostic testing within the office (VF, OCT, Corneal Topography, Fundus Photography, etc.)
- Must have working knowledge of Microsoft office – specifically Outlook, Word and Excel
- Must have experience with NextGen or another EMR system
- Maintains confidentiality and professional demeanor at all times
- You exhibit good judgement, can make independent decisions and can manage your time effectively
- Possess Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT)Certification through JCAHPO, or pass examination within a year of hire
