What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surgery Scheduler position at Ophthalmic Facial Plastic Surgery Specialists?
Responsibilities:
- Schedule surgeries and coordinate with patients, surgeons, and medical staff
- Obtain benefits and authorization. Ensure medical necessity guidelines are met.
- Obtain necessary patient information and medical records for scheduling purposes
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of scheduling information in the electronic medical records system
- Communicate with patients regarding pre-operative instructions, including fasting requirements and medication restrictions
- Coordinate pre-operative testing and clearance with appropriate departments or healthcare providers
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations
- Provide excellent customer service to patients, answering inquiries and addressing concerns
Experience:
- Previous experience as a Surgery Scheduler or in a similar role within a medical office setting
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records systems
- Knowledge of medical terminology and surgical procedures
- Familiarity with insurance verification and pre-authorization processes
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
