Ophthalmic Physicians Incorporated is currently hiring a full-time Ophthalmic Technician position.
The Ophthalmic Technician performs a range of duties including but not limited to: receiving and preparing patients for examination and/or treatment, performing basic and routine vision screening tests, reviewing and verifying medical history, documenting patient information in the patient medical record, administering eye medications, cleaning and maintaining ophthalmic instruments and equipment, and assisting physicians during minor surgical and laser procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Provides primary ophthalmic care to patients and acts as clinical assistant to Ophthalmologist/Optometrist.
- Knowledge of basic ophthalmic medical terminology and ability to complete patient work up including but not limited to refractometry, tonometry, topography, IOL Master, Visual Fields and OCT.
- Initiate patient evaluation, documenting the chief complaint, history of present illness, review of systems, and all pertinent ocular findings with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Takes the initiative to explain all testing components and answers any questions the patients may have.
- Educate patients regarding administration of medications and pre- and post-operative instructions as directed by physician.
- Maintain complete and accurate patient records.
- Maintain a professional atmosphere and appearance of doctor’s exam lane and pre-test equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED
- COT/COA Certification preferred within 12 months of employment.
- Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Minimum of one year experience in an ophthalmic setting.
