Ophthalmic technician
Ophthalmology Associates of Greater Annapolis is recruiting for an experienced, outgoing, friendly, and team-oriented Ophthalmic technician to join our staff. If you like to take initiative and are looking for a place to learn new skills, our practice may be a great fit for you.
We are a community-based, physician-run private practice that serves the Annapolis area and surrounding community. In addition, we draw heavily from the Eastern Shore of Maryland and metro areas of Washington D.C. and Baltimore. We enjoy an excellent referral base and are well-known within this community for providing exceptional eye care.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Promptly and professionally assists the doctors in patient care
- Verify patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history, and confirming purpose of visit. Accurately record all information according to established standards and physician requirements
- Perform duties including all aspects of ophthalmic pre-exam workup, basic and advanced ophthalmic testing including but not limited to refractions, lensometry, check condition of patients' eyes by observing pupils, muscles, visual acuity, extraocular movements, keratometry, tonometry, visual field testing, OCT testing, and topography
- Utilizes proper eyedrop technique and sterility
- Performs set standard number of patient work-ups based on established times while maintaining quality customer service
- Scribes for assigned physician accurately and efficiently
- Demonstrates thorough knowledge of eye anatomy, disease, symptoms, and ocular medications
- Understands characteristics of common anterior segment disorders and oculoplastic conditions
- Secure patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records, completing diagnostic and procedure coding, and keeping patient information confidential
- Must have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and demonstrate energetic professional, empathetic demeanor to patients and coworkers
Qualifications and skills:
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience required
- Strong knowledge of medical office procedures
- Knowledge of customer service principles and practices
- Possession of strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment
- Ability to be proactive and take initiative
- Possession of strong organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication, as well as exceptional interpersonal communication skills
- Exhibit high level of quality through attention to detail and monitoring of work
- Demonstrates flexibility in job assignments
