Facilities Maintenance Technician

MISSION:

• The Facilities Maintenance Technician ensures the seamless operation, upkeep, and maintenance of a state of the art automotive bumper manufacturing facility and grounds, playing a crucial role in creating a safe, efficient, and productive environment for employees.
• This position involves maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing critical systems such as compressed air equipment, electrical systems, plumbing, and HVAC equipment.
• The technician will contribute to the facility's 24/7 operations by optimizing infrastructure, performing preventive and corrective maintenance, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards, and minimizing downtime.
• The role requires being on-call to address emergency maintenance needs and ensure continuous operational support.

Specific Activities:

Facility Maintenance and Upkeep:

• Conduct routine inspections of the facility and grounds to identify and resolve issues promptly.
• Monitor the facility to ensure it remains safe, secure and well-maintained.
• Maintain general and preventive maintenance for HVAC systems, power systems, plumbing, carpentry, and lighting systems.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests from various departments.

Equipment Maintenance and Repairs:

• Perform preventive maintenance tasks to ensure equipment and systems are functional and efficient.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic issues, repairing or replacing defective components as needed.
• Conduct maintenance and repairs on complex technical equipment, such as fixtures, instruments, and production equipment.
• Eliminate breakdowns in machines and fixtures and recognize weak areas to suggest and implement improvements.
• Maintain inventory of repair equipment and supplies; determine part requirements and request procurement.

Operational Support:

• Assist with moving office furniture, machinery, and other materials as requested.
• Follow up on predictive maintenance, energy usage optimization, and grounding systems to improve operational efficiency.
• Participate in developing and following work instructions and procedures for maintenance tasks.
• Support the installation of new machinery and systems.

Safety and Compliance:

• Adhere to safety and compliance regulations, including ISO and OSHA standards, at all times.
• Document maintenance activities, maintaining accurate records of completed tasks and field reports.
• Effectively communicate any safety, equipment, or productivity concerns to supervisors.
• Follow all safety rules, regulations, and directions.

Collaboration and Communication:

• Work cooperatively with colleagues to maintain a positive and efficient working environment.
• Assist fellow team members as needed and support cross-departmental efforts.
• Be on-call for emergency maintenance.

Continuous Improvement:

• Participate in 5S and lean manufacturing initiatives to maintain an organized, efficient workspace.
• Develop and implement suggestions to eliminate weak points and improve equipment performance.

Physical Requirements:

• Exposure to manufacturing equipment, paint fumes, and elevated noise levels (PPE provided).
• Frequent physical activity, including standing, lifting, bending, and climbing, to access equipment and systems.
• Must be able to wear a personal safety harness.
