Lead Caregiver (DSP)
Summary: This Lead Direct Support Professional role (full-time only) serves as a liaison between clients, parents, staff, and their manager. You work directly with clients in addition to your leadership responsibilities. This role is crucial to the success and sustainability of OPPO.
Leadership Assistance Responsibilities:
- Assists with new clients onboarding, training and is the first contact for emergency shift coverage to ensure services are fulfilled as promised.
- Onboarding new clients, maintaining client/DSP compliance, and attending annual PCSPs.
- Responsible for filling in shifts when requested by the manager regardless of the client's location.
- This role will be responsible for working their own DSP shifts in addition to assigned leadership responsibilities.
- Maintain clear, consistent, and open communication with your supervisor.
- Assisting with DSP scheduling according to client needs, including, documenting client attendance, tracking client units, monitoring staff hours, and ensuring daily care notes are in place as requested.
- Completion and timely submission of quarterly reports as requested.
- Assists manager with contact for client families/guardians/care teams.
- Be helpful to employees within your area of influence.
- May assist the manager with other employee and client compliance requirements when requested.
- At least 75% of work must be billable hours (worked directly with client). Additional time must be preapproved
Direct Care Responsibilities:
- Promotes a positive work environment where keeping services safe, happy, and healthy
- Plans and facilitates client activities and outings, events, and activity planning to align with the client’s PCSP
- Attends and completes all assigned meetings and training(s).
- Supports clients with activities of daily living (ADL) including bathroom assistance, hygiene, eating, etc.
- Works respectfully and professionally with the client care team
- Is on time and ready to work for all assigned shifts.
- Completes all required client care documentation.
- Maintains reliable transportation
- Maintains a positive disposition with clients and co-workers.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the manager
- Maintains personal compliance.
Minimum Qualifications
Excellent organizational and communication skills- Access to reliable transportation (you will be required to drive).
- Experience caring for people with disabilities
- Working knowledge of technology and G-Suite products
Ideal Qualifications:
- Responsible leadership experiences
- At least two years of equivalent caregiving experience
- Shows compassion, patience, positive attitude, flexibility, outgoing personality, optimism, and provides excellent care.
- Certifications including CPR, Safety-Care Training
- Has a good working knowledge of DSPD and DHHS contracts and the Code of Conduct.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking.
- Has the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, use mechanical lifts where required, and transfer individuals correctly
- Ability to work in conditions with cats/dogs/pets or submit a medical accommodation of a pet allergy.
- Ability to be alert and attentive to those we serve (even in a group setting)
- Ability to not be easily distracted as we often work in large groups of clients with high energy, escape threats, aggressive emotions, and challenging behavior.
- Ability to safely transport 1 - 4 clients throughout each scheduled shift.
- Ability to be dependable, present, work a full shift, and be on time to all assigned shifts within the employee’s documented availability
