JOB TITLE: SENIOR COST ENGINEER
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Turning data into actionable information for decision makers.
- Improving cost control tools, process’ and procedures.
- Developing more junior team members.
- Partner with the various project managers and budget holders to support them in managing their budgets.
- Prepare timely and accurate cost reports on a periodic basis on the status of the in consultation with budget holders and Project Managers.
- Coordinate with the project engineers to clarify any query/discrepancies. Assist in the identification and mitigation of project risks.
- Monitor costs and generate variance reports as and when required and forward to the budget holder and Project Manager for their perusal.
- Workout forecast for various line items of the cost report in consultation with project team members.
- Carry out assessment of potential variations/claims from sub-contractors/vendors.
- Assist Project Engineers in preparing additional cost analysis as deemed necessary.
- Participate in project review meetings, if required and provide any cost related data as and when required.
- Interface and provide clarification to the project engineers and Accounts and provide assistance wherever required.
- Propose new suggestion if any and keep improving/updating the process of effective cost control.
- Develop historical Cost database of a project for future reference.
- Provide training and guidance to new/junior Cost Control personnel.
- Solves complex problems by drawing on other technical and business resources. Serves as a resource in solving difficult problems. Sets ambitious goals and high standards of performance.
- Communicates in a way that promotes understanding and support at all levels of the immediate organization. Presents information and ideas in a manner appropriate to the audience.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Few years in Oil & Gas or related process industry cost function, preferably internationally, including large projects with increasing responsibility including team supervision.
- Quantity Surveying qualification looked on favourably.
- Proven fully developed cost control skill sets.
- Can lead the development of standards, processes and procedures.
- Can develop project budgets using common structures.
- Able to prepare cost forecasts to meet the needs of project management.
- Performs detailed variance analysis. (quantities, costs, hours, productivity, etc)
- Checks quality of work by subordinates.
- Understands estimating techniques.
- Able to review and develop estimates for scope and trend changes.
- Fully understands WBS requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
