LEAD (Leadership Exploration and Development) is a leadership and management development program. Scheduled to begin in July 2025, this program offers onsite training at the bank’s headquarters in Suffolk, VA, and includes eight 3 month job rotations throughout our headquarters in Hampton Roads. The final year will be spent in specific on-the-job training in a selected Career Track (see below) within one of Towne’s geographic regions.
The LEAD Program is designed to develop the skills and knowledge to be a successful leader in a top-performing financial institution.
Learning opportunities include presentation skills, advanced communication, business etiquette, ethics, financial management, and more.
Participate in classroom and online learning, job rotations, special projects, group activities, and community volunteerism.
Build professional networks, receive mentoring from previous program graduates and executives, participate in employee resource groups, and engage with local community organizations.
The LEAD program includes a strong focus on our mission of serving others and enriching lives, from both the professional and philanthropic perspective.

- Towne Financial Services – Mortgage or Insurance
- Specialized tracks for Enterprise Support Services such as: Audit, Accounting, Technology and Risk Management
LEAD Program Prerequisite:
-Completed bachelor’s degree
Educational coursework required:
-Accounting
-Economics
-Computer skills for business
Educational coursework preferred:
-Intro to Finance
-Commercial Banking or Money & Banking
-Statistics
-Business Information Technology
-Marketing
Community and/or extra-curricular involvement:
Proven initiative, work ethic, and leadership experience.
Strong consideration will be given to applicants who have participated in a university leadership or honors program.
