What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing Representative position at Opportunities at Towne?
Essential Responsibilities:
- Maintains inventory of office forms, supplies, & products in support of Bank operations.
- Assists Bank & Affiliate personnel with online supply ordering.
- Maintains smooth delivery of all orders to branches and departments.
- Assists in negotiating price reductions as needed.
- Review vendor invoices for accuracy before submitting to Accounts Payable.
- Monitor bills and adjust when necessary.
- Monitor Total Business Solutions supply orders substituting items when necessary.
- Shop and compare prices for office supplies.
- Order teller supplies for branches.
- Order supplies for new branch openings & Bank mergers as needed.
- Make changes to branch location stationary as needed.
- Maintain updated samples of TowneBank printed forms inventory at Grubb.
- Maintain & perform procedures for Grubb inventory counts and audits.
- Assist with off-site storage box retention processes.
- Complete sales purchases, including equipment, machines, goods, and services for companies.
- Find the highest quality goods possible by reading reviews and performing research.
- Study current inventory levels and determine what is needed.
- Keep abreast of changes affecting both the supply of, and demand for, needed products and materials.
- Consider price, quality, availability, reliability, and technical support when choosing suppliers and merchandise.
- Have a working knowledge of the goods or services to be purchased.
- Place orders and ensure product is shipped according to deadlines.
- Keep updated supply contracts.
- Performs administrative support as needed.
- Assists Director of General Services with special projects as needed.
- Adheres to applicable federal laws, rules, and regulations including those related to Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
Minimum Required Skills & Competencies:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & Outlook, Access)
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively & efficiently in an independent environment.
- Must be cooperative, effective, productive and be tactful in working relationships.
- Excellent negotiation and communications skills
- Must be a team player.
Desired Skills & Competencies:
- Previous banking experience
- Previous experience in a purchasing environment
- College graduate preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word via email and verbally.
- Exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, use your arms and legs, and sit most of the time.
- Have close visual acuity to perform activities such as analyzing data, viewing a computer terminal, reading, and preparing documentation.
