Essential Job Functions And Responsibilities
- Develop and Oversee Employer Engagement Strategy: Lead the development of employer partnerships aligned with growth sectors where the agency provides training, focusing on securing both internship opportunities and job placements for program graduates. Strategically guide and oversee the efforts of Job Developers across the organization to ensure alignment with these goals
- Build and Strengthen Collaborative Relationships: Represent the program in key partnerships with NYC and NYS government agencies, community organizations, employers, and advanced training institutions to expand opportunities and enhance program impact
- Ensure Internship and Placement Excellence: Conduct site visits, manage all contractual requirements related to internship placements, and ensure accurate and timely data entry to meet program standards
- Prepare Participants for Career Success: Facilitate group and one-on-one preparation sessions to equip participants with the skills and confidence needed for interviews, working closely with employer partners to align candidate readiness with job opportunities
- Lead Hiring Events and Placement Activities: Coordinate and support the planning and execution of hiring events, job fairs, and related initiatives to connect participants with meaningful career opportunities
- Foster a Culture of Professionalism: Cultivate a professional, real-world working environment for youth and young adults, emphasizing skills development, accountability, and career readiness
- Innovate and Scale Services: Identify opportunities to expand program offerings, scale successful initiatives, and build partnerships that generate additional revenue, ensuring the organization remains at the forefront of workforce development
- Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds

- A proven track record of exceptional success in preparing individuals for entry into and persistence in both subsidized and unsubsidized employment. Preference will be given to applicants who have an established network of employer partners, particularly in OBT’s target sectors, already committed to collaborating with them
- The ability to establish strong working relationships with team members, colleagues, participants, and external stakeholders
- Strong skill set in data management and data tracking; demonstrated experience managing data collection, analysis, and reporting
- A track record of meeting or exceeding placement goals and assisting direct reports in doing the same
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in workforce development or a related field
- At least 5 years of experience in workforce development programming
- A minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience
- Internship Placement and Completion: For programs with an internship component, at least 100% of participants must be placed into internships, and at least 80% of those placed must successfully complete their internships. For participants in credential training programs, all internship placements must align with the sector in which they were trained
- Employment Placement and Retention: A minimum of 80% of participants who successfully complete their program and identify employment as their primary post-exit goal must secure employment within 3 months of program completion. Of those placed, at least 70% must retain employment at 6 months post-exit, and 60% must retain employment at 12 months post-exit. For credential training program graduates, 100% of employment placements must be in their trained sector
- Employer Satisfaction: Employer surveys will demonstrate a streamlined hiring process and indicate that individuals placed meet or exceed initial expectations as new employees
