Position OverviewThe Qualified Mental Health Professional-Trainee (QMHP-T) or Qualified Mental Health Professional-Adult (QMHP-A) will play a key role in providing crisis stabilization, assessment, and intervention services for individuals admitted to the Residential Crisis Stabilization Unit (RCSU). This position requires on-call availability to respond to after-hours intakes and coordination with referral sources, ensuring clients receive timely and effective care.Key ResponsibilitiesClient Support & Crisis Intervention
- Provide direct crisis stabilization services and therapeutic interventions for clients experiencing acute psychiatric distress.
- Conduct initial assessments, safety planning, and risk evaluations upon intake.
- Monitor client progress and engage clients in structured therapeutic activities to promote stabilization.
- Provide crisis intervention, de-escalation, and coping skills education.
Intake & On-Call Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for new client intakes during regular hours and be available on-call for after-hours admissions as needed.
- Coordinate with hospitals, community mental health agencies, law enforcement, mobile crisis teams, and other referral sources to ensure smooth transitions into the RCSU.
- Complete all required intake documentation and ensure clients meet admission criteria.
Treatment Planning & Documentation
- Assist in the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans (ISPs).
- Maintain accurate and timely progress notes, assessments, and discharge summaries in compliance with Medicaid/DMAS guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with the clinical team, case managers, and medical personnel regarding client needs and progress.
Facility & Program Oversight
- Ensure a safe and structured environment for all residents, addressing any crisis situations as they arise.
- Support the House Manager in day-to-day operations, including enforcing house rules and coordinating services.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance program effectiveness.
Qualifications & Skills
- QMHP-T or QMHP-A certification (recognized by the Virginia Board of Counseling).
- Experience in crisis intervention, mental health stabilization, or residential behavioral health settings preferred.
- Ability to assess risk factors and implement de-escalation strategies.
- Strong knowledge of Medicaid/DMAS regulations and crisis response best practices.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and handle high-pressure crisis situations effectively.
Schedule & Compensation
- Full-time position (Monday – Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM) with on-call responsibilities for after-hours intakes.
- Weekend shifts may be required on an as-needed basis.
- Competitive hourly wage/salary based on experience, with benefits package available.
