**Job Overview:**

We are seeking a dedicated Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide counseling and support to individuals struggling with substance abuse disorders.

**Responsibilities:**

- Conduct diagnostic evaluations to assess clients' needs

- Develop treatment plans based on individual assessments

- Provide counseling and therapy sessions to clients

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical documentation

- Utilize ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes for billing purposes

- Implement behavioral health interventions tailored to each client's needs

- Offer PTSD care for clients experiencing trauma-related issues

- Practice motivational interviewing techniques to encourage positive behavioral changes

- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations in handling medical records

**Requirements:**

- Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field (Master's degree preferred)

- Relevant certification or licensure in substance abuse counseling

- Proficiency in medical documentation and record-keeping

- Experience working with individuals facing substance abuse challenges

- Strong understanding of behavioral health principles and interventions

- Familiarity with PTSD care and related treatment modalities

- Knowledge of ICD coding systems (ICD-9 and ICD-10)

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Job Summary: As a CSAC specializing in 2.5 Partial Hospitalization, you will provide comprehensive substance abuse counseling services to individuals enrolled in our partial hospitalization program. Your role will involve assessing clients' needs, developing treatment plans, conducting individual and group counseling sessions, and maintaining accurate documentation of client progress. You will collaborate closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated care and support for clients recovering from substance use disorders.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct initial assessments and ongoing evaluations to determine clients' treatment needs.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients, taking into account their goals and preferences.
  • Provide individual counseling sessions to address substance abuse issues, mental health concerns, and co-occurring disorders.
  • Lead group therapy sessions focusing on topics such as relapse prevention, coping skills, and interpersonal relationships.
  • Educate clients and their families about addiction, recovery strategies, and community resources.
  • Monitor clients' progress through regular reviews and evaluations, adjusting treatment plans as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records in accordance with regulatory standards and agency policies.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss client care and treatment strategies.
  • Adhere to ethical and legal standards governing substance abuse counseling practices.
  • Stay current with developments in the field of addiction treatment and attend training or workshops as required.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) credential or equivalent certification/license required.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field preferred.
  • Experience working in partial hospitalization or intensive outpatient settings strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices in addiction treatment and recovery.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport with clients and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of confidentiality laws and ethical guidelines related to substance abuse treatment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, and move intermittently during work hours.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with clients, families, and team members both verbally and in writing.

Working Conditions:

  • Work primarily in a clinical setting, providing direct services to clients.
  • May require occasional evening or weekend hours to accommodate client needs and program schedules.
