DESCRIPTION:
The Leadership Development Manager is an integral member of the United Way of Greater Houston’s Nonprofit Connection (NPC) team. This critical role will strengthen the Greater Houston nonprofit ecosystem, ensuring that nonprofit organizations, leaders, and networks have access to the tools, training, and resources needed to advance their mission and impact. The Leadership Development Manager will work to develop and nurture nonprofit talent, advance nonprofit growth, connect nonprofit organizations to resources, and unite people, partners, and collaborative networks to facilitate collective action and learning.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Program Management and Oversight: Drive goal achievement through program management and well-defined project plans; manage implementation activities, and develop processes, documentation, and communications for program/process rollout and ongoing support. Define key performance indicators by developing metrics for programs and processes, aligned with departmental and organizational objectives. Oversee the execution and monitoring of professional contracts, including foundation grants, reporting, organizational review, and evaluation.
- Strategy Development: Participate in the creation, implementation and success of strategies to increase nonprofit sector impact in the areas of leadership, management, organizational development, DEIB and related areas essential for nonprofit sustainability.
- Community Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with diverse senior leaders of institutional and organizational partners, particularly those leading in underserved communities. Lead efforts to identify community needs and potential solutions by soliciting input from a broad constituency in a variety of ways, both in person and digital. Identify and communicate with appropriate UWGH team members regarding opportunities to leverage relationships more broadly. Advocate on behalf of organizations targeted by UWGH’s Community Outreach work. Convene, facilitate groups and provide leadership for community outreach efforts.
- Cross-functional Engagement: Build strong cross-functional relationships with internal departments and consultants, as needed, to implement business strategies. Work as a member of the DEIB Cross-functional Team to support diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging strategy. Liaise with internal constituents such as UWGH’s Donor Relations and Brand/Marketing teams to identify, develop and implement opportunities to communicate to constituents the impact of Community Outreach work on UWGH goals and priorities.
