Medical Assistant III- CMA
Schedule: Monday-Thursday 8am-5pm. Full Time.
The Medical Assistant (MA) position is responsible for providing care for the comfort and well-being of dermatology patients.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
• Prepare the examination room for the patient as well as taking patient vital signs and recording vitals in medical chart
• Order and stock medical supplies if required
• Occasionally monitor prescription activity, lab specimens and pathology results
• Provide accurate and consistent information to the patient using an established protocol, interpret Provider instructions to patients, assist with emergency and minor procedures, and perform related tasks as directed
• Clean and sterilize instruments and equipment, and maintains stock of supplies and medications
• Perform a variety of patient care activities to assist providers and follow detailed protocols, including: performing and documenting specified procedures and results
• Maintain patient confidentiality at all times
• Other special projects or tasks as assigned
Requirements/Qualifications
Minimum Education & Experience:
• CMA or RMA certification preferred
• Minimum of 1 year experience in a medical office setting
• Efficient multi-tasker in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent attention to detail
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Demonstrates a high level of mental and emotional tolerance and even temperament when dealing with ill people; uses tact, sensitivity, sound judgement, and a professional attitude when relating with patients, families, and co-workers at all times. Actively functions as a patient advocate. Must have thorough knowledge of medical practice and care to assist in giving patient care. Knowledge of examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures. Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Skill in assisting in a variety of treatments and medications as directed. Skill in taking vital signs. Skill in maintaining records and recording test results. Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, co-workers and the public. Ability to communicate clearly. Must develop knowledge of current hospital emergency policies and procedures, fire, safety, disaster, and infection control policies.
