What are the responsibilities and job description for the RN MAP TRAINER - COORDINATOR I position at Opportunities?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- The RN Trainer functions as the primary contact for LifeStream’s MAP program as well as a secondary training program contact for LifeStream’s Nurse Aide Training / Home Health Aide Training Program.
- Deliver curriculum of the health care programs to participants of DTA, LifeStream staff, and the community.
- Create, update, and present the Medication Administration Program with the coordination of testing by D&S Diversified Technologies, the Department of Developmental Services, and the Department of Public Health MAP regulations.
- Deliver the academic and skills curriculum for the MAP program to LifeStream staff, and provide tutoring as needed for support to the staff.
- Create annual training schedules and maintain class completion data. Maintain required records of student progress.
- Deliver the curriculum of the NAT program and other health care training programs to training participants and LifeStream staff as needed. Instruct the hands-on practicals needed for the optimal functioning of the trainees in the health care field as needed.
- Assist in arranging and managing the clinical rotations in the local nursing facilities mandated for the NAT trainees by state regulatory agencies as needed.
- Prepare the students for state testing and successful completion of the program.
- Acts as LifeStream’s Medication Administration Program Consultant and educates staff in medication administration policies as indicated by the Department of Public Health.
- Participate in Nursing On-Call rotation as a MAP Consultant and medical support to staff and individuals.
- Coordinate training with LifeStream staff when areas of clinical development needs are identified by Program Coordinators and Director of Nursing
- Conduct RN credential-required trainings for LifeStream staff consistent with MAP Policy.
- Conduct medically related orientation trainings as necessary.
- Proctor testing on an as-needed basis.
- Other duties as assigned.
Personnel
- Direct supervision of MAP staff in an academic setting.
- Ensure all program supports and services are delivered.
- Ensure all program staff maintains expected levels of participation in program operations.
- Maintain a working relationship with other nursing staff and residential managers.
Facilities
- Ensure that the MAP computer lab’s physical appearance and equipment meets the needs of all students.
- Assure that the NAT classroom maintains a physical appearance conducive to learning.
- Keep the clinical lab open and supplied as a state testing site.
- Coordinate necessary computer repairs and maintenance.
Administrative
- Ensure that all required documentation is completed within a timely fashion and according with nursing and Human Resource guidelines.
- Maintain open and effective communication with other staff and Residential Coordinators in particular.
- Maintain training records in accordance with LifeStream, MAP, and NAT policy.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Maintenance of an acceptable CORI
- Valid Driver’s license
- Negative drug screen
- Must meet the eligibility requirements to become a Medication Administration Trainer in Massachusetts.
- Must meet the eligibility requirements to become a Secondary NAT Instructor with the Department of Public Health.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: (Include education, experience, special skills, and licenses or certifications required.)
- A Massachusetts Registered Nurse with a minimum of an associate’s degree in nursing.
- Minimum of two years of teaching background in a related field.
- Proven leadership ability.
- Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills; proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills; auditory and visual skills.
- Proven success record as a team player with an ability to influence all levels of management.
- Demonstrated history of quality work performance and teamwork in previous positions.
