- Reports to Recreation Supervisor- Youth Sports and Community Programming
- Located at Eden Prairie City Center (8080 Mitchell Road, Eden Prairie, MN) and various tennis courts and parks in Eden Prairie.
- Position runs May 2025 - August 2025. Typical hours are Monday-Thursday afternoons, into early evenings and Friday (32-35 hour per week)
Responsibilities
The Tennis and Youth Sports Coordinator is responsible for coordinating tennis instructional programs for youth and adults. The primary position responsibilities and areas of impact are:
- Assists the Youth Sports and Community Programming supervisor with the planning of tennis programs and youth sports for all ages. Assists with administrative duties such as participant communication, vendor rosters, invoicing, tracking private lessons and weather decisions.
- Oversees all tennis programs and ensures a safe, friendly, and enjoyable atmosphere for all participants. Performs program site visits and communicates with youth sports vendors and staff to ensure high quality program delivery. Assists tennis lesson instructors and youth sports staff at multiple sites with performing their job; conveys expectations of the program and communicates recommendations for program improvements.
- Provides seasonal on-court tennis training for staff and instructs classes as needed.
While these areas are the primary focus of this position, we believe strongly in teamwork and employees will be called upon to perform a variety of duties as a part of their role with the City.
Requirements
- High school diploma, or equivalent (G.E.D.) required, pursuing post-secondary education preferred. Must be 18 years of age or older. CPR and First Aid certification must be completed prior to first day of programming.
- 1-2 years of experience providing work direction and/or supervising staff; a minimum of 2 years’ experience teaching tennis. Previous experience working with children required; experience developing and implementing program and activities preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
