Farm Canine Enrichment Caregiver
Work with Dogs. Learn from Trainers. Support a Lifestyle, Not Just a Daycare.
At OPB, this isn't typical dog care. We lead with training, build with structure, and stay grounded in lifestyle-based care that supports every dog’s development and well-being. Our farm-based program is designed and directed by professional trainers, and every dog in our care is part of a training-informed routine. That means we’re not just managing dogs—we’re actively shaping behavior, facilitating growth, and cultivating healthy, fulfilling lives.
We’re currently looking for a Canine Enrichment Caregiver to join our team. This is a hands-on role that blends care, adventure, structure, and learning, all under the guidance of a trainer-led team.
About the Role:
As a Canine Enrichment Caregiver, you’ll support our training team in executing a daily rhythm that’s both structured and enriching. Every dog you care for is part of a larger training journey—either having completed foundational training or enrolled in it as a pathway into our program. You’ll help maintain that standard by reinforcing trained behaviors, supporting safe social interactions, and delivering a day filled with purpose-driven activity.
This role is ideal for someone who:
- Thrives in a team that is trainer-led and behavior-savvy
- Is curious about canine learning and wants to grow their skills alongside experienced trainers
- Understands that structure, boundaries, and enrichment go hand in hand
- Loves being outdoors and is excited to guide dogs through nature walks, farm play, and group adventures
Key Responsibilities:
Daily Care & Supervision
- Deliver consistent, structured care aligned with training goals
- Supervise dogs closely during off-leash play, hikes, training practice, and rest periods
- Reinforce existing behaviors as directed by the training team
Play & Exercise
- Lead trainer-designed activities like structured group play, enrichment walks, UTV chases, and farm hikes
- Help maintain a balanced day of physical exercise, mental stimulation, and down time
- Observe and support positive dog-to-dog interactions
Feeding, Medication & Grooming
- Administer food, supplements, or medication as directed
- Help dogs stay clean and comfortable with daily coat care (e.g., burrs, mud, etc.)
- Maintain detailed records of each dog’s health, behavior, and activity
Cleaning & Facility Support
- Ensure all dog areas—kennels, transport van, gear, and common spaces—are clean, safe, and ready for use
- Handle daily waste removal and sanitation tasks with care and consistency
Client Interaction
- Greet clients and communicate updates clearly and kindly
- Relay insights from the training and care team regarding progress, health, and behavior
- Support our professional, trainer-informed approach in all client interactions
Safety & Observation
- Monitor for early signs of conflict, illness, or stress
- Follow and enforce all safety protocols set by the training team
- Be ready to respond to emergencies with clarity and calm
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience with dogs (daycare, boarding, shelter, training, etc.)
- Strong interest in dog behavior and training—previous experience or education is a plus
- Physically fit, comfortable outdoors in all weather, and able to work with dogs of all sizes and energy levels
- Excellent communication and reliability
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (transport van use required)
Schedule & Compensation:
- Full-time (expected 40 hrs/week)
- $17–$21/hr tips
- 10-hour shifts, daytime only
- Monday–Friday availability with occasional weekend needs
Benefits (Full-Time):
- Health, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance
- 401(k) with employer matching
- Paid time off and sick leave
- Short & long-term disability
- Health savings account (HSA)
- Employee discounts on services
