DETAILED SUMMARY:
The Maple Alley Inn Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and service delivery of the Maple Alley Inn Program. Maple Alley Inn provides nutritious and balanced meals to anyone in need of a hot meal. The Coordinator is responsible for Maple Alley Inn staff supervision, training, and performance evaluation along with all related personnel paper work.
Additionally, the Coordinator recruits, trains and oversees volunteers in providing Maple Alley Inn services. Performs a variety of advanced administrative and networking functions, including community education and reporting. Assists in fund development for the program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the overall coordination of the Maple Alley Inn program.
Coordinates menu planning, shopping, meal preparation and service delivery; maintains appropriate supplies and reorders to preclude outages.
Maintains sanitation and cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas.
Maintains current knowledge of available community resources and provides information and referral services.
Responsible for Maple Alley Inn staff supervision, training, and performance evaluation along with all related personnel paperwork.
Recruits, trains and oversees volunteers and trainees in providing Maple Alley services.
Responsible for coordination with community partners to enhance program delivery, including onsite health and social service providers.
Solicits financial support for programs by assisting with grant preparations, other fund-raising efforts, and various community public speaking presentations.
Compiles and tracks a variety of comprehensive information and statistics; creates related reports and volunteer tracking; works with administrative staff to develop tracking tools as needed.
Develops and maintains cooperative working relationships with other agencies and food service providers throughout the community.
Acts as main point of contact with host site leadership.
Organizes pick-up and delivery of donated items.
Ensures programs are in compliance with health and safety regulations and federal, state, and local grant requirements.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
1. High school diploma
2. Minimum of 5 years’ related experience in food services.
3. Experience in social services and knowledge in mobilizing community resources for low–income families.
4. If hiring for a bilingual position. Must be able to speak, read, and write with proficiency and fluency in the required language.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
1.Valid Washington State driver’s license by time of hire.
2. Good driving record.
3. A three-year driving abstract must be submitted prior to hire.
4. Current food worker card.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Communication skills; ability to maintain broad level of communications throughout the agency; maintain direct, regular contact with a diversity of agencies and community resources. Job requires ability to regularly negotiate, influence others and problem solve beyond immediate department (internally and externally) regarding issues significant to the agency.
Demonstrated innovation; must frequently introduce innovative ideas and solutions; often assist in creating new or improved methods, procedures, or systems. Regularly requires independent, creative thinking in collaboration with others to address operational, functional, or service issues.
Time–management and leadership skills; ability to work independently with frequent interruptions and often in crisis situations.
Record keeping skills; ability to maintain program records for grant reporting purposes.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is generally performed in a fast–paced kitchen and social service environment with frequent interruptions and occasional crisis situations. Majority of work centers on direct service and procedures that require a high degree of confidentiality, tactfulness and respect for clients from a diversity of economic and ethnic backgrounds. Regularly provides support to clients in such areas as program information and referral, education and problem solving. Periodically requires travel within the agency’s service areas for donation pick- up, community resource networking, meetings, special workshops, speaking engagements and other job– related professional activities.
