Direct Support Professional (DSP) - Housing Specialist
JOB HIGHLIGHTS
Qualifications:
- High School graduate or equivalent
- One (1) year of experience working or volunteering with persons with disabilities or in nursing or home health care positions.
Responsibilities:
- Possess awareness of special needs and the ability to provide assistance according to the individual’s needs.
- Possess awareness of realistic work expectations regarding quality of work, and appropriate work behaviors.
- Communicate with supervisor in a timely manner.
- Responsible for collecting and reporting program data.
- Case management duties as assigned.
- Ability to perform assessments and intakes for individuals new to the program.
- Assist Individuals in exploring all housing options within the individual’s preferred location.
- Identify financial resources and determine the individual’s affordability.
- Responsible for assisting individuals with rental application completion, including obtaining necessary documents.
- Provide assistance with lease signings and move in coordination.
- Ability to travel throughout ODC’s service areas (Wisconsin Rapids, Marshfield, Stevens Point, Wausau, etc.)
- Observe and document daily progress, concerns, and outcomes of each individual.
- Complete first aid, CPR and CPI training and certification if requested to.
- Responsible for scheduling allotted time for each individual supported.
- Responsible for acquiring and maintaining relationships with property owners, rental agencies, mortgage officers and housing authorities.
- This position requires use of a company email address which requires an application to be downloaded on your personal cell phone for multi-factor authentication (MFA) to ensure cyber security.
