What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Specialist position at Opportunity Enterprises Inc?
The Program Specialist will provide for the advocacy of assigned individuals in Day Programs through the use of counseling, referrals, and program development. Develop and assure implementation of appropriate instructional plans and training activities as assigned in relevant areas to meet established Individualized Support Plan (ISP) or Individual Prescriptive Plan (IPP) goals and objectives, and to ensure compliance with state, agency, and Council on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) standards, policies, and procedures.
Responsibilities
The Specific Responsibilities for the Program Specialist are to:
- Ensure compliance with agency policies and procedures, funding source requirements, CARF standards, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and United States Department of Labor (USDOL).
- Coordinate appropriate communications necessary between day services with other Opportunity Enterprises departments, families, and advocates and other providers and case managers.
- Responsible for orientation for new individuals served.
- Provide individual and/or group client counseling, training, and instruction as assigned.
- Direct and/or assist in behavioral issues and crisis management as needed.
- Track and monitor incident reports and submit reports to the Bureau of Developmental Disabilities Services as required.
- Develop, maintain and assure implementation of ISP and IPP goals and objectives and data collection systems for assigned individuals as needed.
- Administer assessments for assigned individuals as directed.
- Develop and coordinate appropriate day and ancillary services.
- Generate reports; attend department meetings and conferences; maintain documentation regarding progress as needed.
- Maintain the necessary service, operational, and financial records and reports for assigned individuals.
- Maintain all necessary documentation in electronic systems (including, but not limited to Therap, Electronic Incident Reports and OASIS).
- Coordinate and conduct or participate in annual conferences through an Interdisciplinary team approach, utilizing iPad technology for required paperwork.
- Refer clients and/or families to local, state, and federal programs.
- Develop and coordinate individual habilitation training on an individual basis as assigned.
- Demonstrate appropriate role model for persons served.
- Demonstrate teamwork with staff and persons served.
- Maintain acceptable work standards in all areas including attendance and punctuality.
- Maintain information in electronic filing system/working files.

The Program Specialist shall assume other responsibilities as requested by the Social Services Director.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each of the Specific and General Responsibilities satisfactorily. Additionally, the requirements listed below are representative of the education and/or experience required to perform this job:
Required Licenses, Certificates, Degrees and/or experience
- Must possess a valid Driver's License, with a driving record acceptable to Opportunity Enterprises, Inc. insurance carrier.
- Must have high school diploma/GED
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Must pass pre-screening requirements (i.e. Drug screening, TB Test, and Background check)
- Two years’ experience in the rehabilitation field
