What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transportation Driver position at Opportunity Enterprises Inc?
Provide demand/response transportation within Porter County and portions of Lake and LaPorte counties
Responsibilities
1. To transport demand/response clients as needed.
2. To maintain accurate attendance records, DR / Medicaid logs and vehicle paperwork.
3. To be responsible for the safety and welfare of all clients while on the vehicle.
4. To be aware of and observe all safety precautions and legal requirements in driving and maintaining any agency vehicle assigned.
5. To be prepared to handle emergencies that may develop, such as accident, client sickness or seizure, mechanical or tire failure, etc.
6. To maintain a For Hire endorsement legally required for driving FTA funded agency vehicles.
7. To see to the general upkeep and maintenance of the assigned vehicles.
8. Attend all in-service and agency meetings, as required.

1) Without assistance, employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 125 pounds.
2) While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to walk, sit, stand, stoop, bend, squat, push, pull, have full physical dexterity and agility, and eye/hand coordination and be able to handle loading and unloading wheelchairs.
3. General Tasks
1) This position requires the ability to operate a vehicle and a wheelchair lift.
2) Employee must have the ability to read and comprehend safety rules, procedure manuals and operating and maintenance instructions.
3) Employee must have the ability to write routine reports.
4) Employee must have the ability to calculate and count.
5) Employee must have the ability to comprehend, retain and follow oral
and written instructions, exercise good judgment, set priorities, listen, problem solve and make decisions.
6) Employee must be able to work without supervision.
4. The Transportation Driver shall assume other responsibilities as requested by The Transportation Director.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, and individual must be able to perform each of the Specific and General Responsibilities satisfactorily. Additionally, the requirements listed below are representative of the education and/or experience required to perform this job:
1. Required Licenses, Certificates, Degrees and/or experience
1) Must possess a valid Driver’s License with a For Hire Endorsement.
2) Must have high school diploma/GED.
3) Must have driving record acceptable to Opportunity Enterprises, Inc. Insurance carrier.
4) Must be 18 years or older.
5) Must pass pre-screening requirements (i.e. Drug screening, TB Test, and Background check)

- Work at indoor and outdoor work sites
