What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bilingual Cashier / Retail Clerk position at Opportunity House?
Opportunity House is looking for a friendly and dependable individual with great communication skills, to work at our retail thrift store (OppShop). Must have the knowledge and ability to provide sales assistance, and excellent customer service to our customers. Must be able to receive and disburse money, operate cash register, and process credit or debit card transactions.
Essential duties:
- Essential Functions/Duties
· Greet customers.
· Recommend, select, and help locate or obtain merchandise based on customer needs and desires.
· Answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise.
· Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions, policies regarding payment and exchanges, and security practices.
· Demonstrate use or operation of merchandise.
· Maintain inventory; clean, arrange and display merchandise.
· Able to perform various roles within the store such as, receiving donations, issuing donation slips, sorting donations, pricing items, stocking items, loading and unloading delivery trucks, and working the registers.
· Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Education/Training:
· High school diploma/GED
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
· Bi-lingual (Spanish) preferred.
· Ability to lift and move heavy objects.
· Knowledge of cash register, credit card processing, and basic computer skills preferred.
· Ability to sort donated inventory.
· Patience, tact, and good problem-solving ability.
· Ability to communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, donors, store manager, assistant manager and volunteers.
· Strong service skills, able to look for ways to help customers.
· Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service
Experience:
· One (1) to two (2) years retail sales and customer service experience.
· Non-profit experience helpful
