What are the responsibilities and job description for the Infant/Toddler Teacher position at Opportunity School?
Opportunity School is looking for professional, high quality infant/toddler teachers to join our team and growing program at our Edwards campus location !!!
In this position, you will provide high quality developmentally appropriate care and education for children age 0-3 in a center based classroom. The goal is to contribute to the healthy mental and emotional development of the child so they can more easily acclimate in the next level of education. You will have the opportunity to work as part of a center based inter-disciplinary team to support the children in all areas of development while providing education, health and social service support to families.
A Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) or Associate Degree in Early Childhood is preferred, or required to be obtained within one year. Opportunities are available to go to school for free !!
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a calming and caring environment for infant/toddler children
- Use a developmentally appropriate curriculum to teach children
- Create and implement weekly lesson plans
- Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem, language, motor and cognitive skills
- Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional arguments
- Organize nap and snack hours and supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times
- Track children’s progress and report to parents
- Communicate with parents regularly to understand the children’s background and psyche
- Collaborate with other teachers and work together as a team
- Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards
Skills
- Proven experience as an Infant/Toddler Teacher
- Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods
- Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
- Excellent communication and instructional skills
- Cool-tempered, friendly and reliable
- Certification in child CPR
