JOB TITLE: Floral Retail Assistant
DEPARTMENT: Group Supported Employment
SUPERVISOR: Development Director
General Job Description:
Assist staff with the duties necessary to run a retail floral shop and support the individuals we serve.
Part Time 29Hours or less. Must be flexible with hours
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist to maintain a clean, neat and organized shop.
- Assist with taking and logging orders
- Help with deliveries and Transportaion of the individuals
- Assist with the processing of flowers, plants and merchandise
- Assist with the cleanliness of the exterior of the facility
- Assist staff with the overseeing of inventory both live goods and hard goods
- Assist staff with ringing up customers
- Assist to bring customer purchases to their vehicles
- Assist with daily paperwork for the individuals
- Assist with daily, weekly and monthly paperwork for the florist
- Ability to work with our on-line floral sales sites
- Ability to dress appropriately for the retail environment
- Assist with merchandising of products for sale
- Assist with incoming deliveries and products
- Ensuring all safety procedures are followed
- Assist staff with making the incoming orders as needed
- Ensuring the business operates within the company’s mission statement
- Participation in OWC fundraisers
- Other duties as they arise
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB:
- Prior experience in the floral or garden center environment helpful but not mandatory
- Willingness to learn how to use/work on a computer and its Point-of-Sale Software
- Ability to work in a cold environment for long periods of time
- Ability to work in hot environments for a long period of time
- Ability to potentially stand for long periods of time
- Ability to potentially kneel for an extended amount of time
- Ability to walk on uneven surfaces
- Must be able to work flexible hours
- Ability to answer the phone and communicate with people
- Ability to write legibly with or without assistance
- Ability to lift 40 lbs
- Ability to maintain good personal hygiene
