Ground Team Member

Assist in a variety of duties within the confines of the shop and/or yard assigned to. Will help in the loading and unloading or pipe, plate, tanks, posts and other materials from railcars, or trucks, by assisting loader operator with placement of materials. May perform a variety of other tasks relating to production and shipment of products, could include grinding on product, picking up yard debris, sorting pipe and other duties as assigned.

The job duties listed are all done outside and not inside. These duties are not in a climate-controlled environment.

Education and Experience

Less than a High School Diploma or

High School Diploma - or the equivalent (for example, GED)

Knowledge

Transportation - Knowledge of principles and methods for moving and loading goods by rail, or road, including the relative costs and benefits.

Public Safety and Security - Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.

• Job Hazards- Health hazards from welding, cutting, and brazing operations include exposures to metal fumes and to ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Safety hazards from these operations include burns, eye damage, electrical shock, cuts, and crushed toes and fingers, noise damage.

Primary Job Duties

• Assist with loading and unloading equipment, conveyors, hoists, and other specialized material handling equipment such as railroad car unloading equipment.
• Monitor product movements, coordinating activities with other workers to ensure safety.
