OTA is seeking talented and detail-oriented Casualty Makeup Artists to create realistic battlefield trauma effects and special effects makeup onsite for role players in near Barstow, CA. This role requires a highly creative professional who excels in crafting lifelike casualty effects to enhance the realism and impact of the project.
Position Contingent Upon Contract Award
Key Responsibilities
- Design and apply realistic casualty effects makeup, including wounds, bruises, burns, scars, and other trauma-related visuals
- Collaborate with directors, role players, and creative teams to align makeup designs with project requirements and objectives
- Utilize moulage kits, prosthetics, latex, silicone, airbrushing, and other materials to construct custom effects as needed
- Maintain makeup continuity and perform touch-ups during filming, performances, or training exercises
- Research and reference real-world injuries to ensure accuracy and authenticity
- Manage all necessary casualty makeup kits, moulage packages, and accessories during training exercises or production events; materials will be provided by OTA
- Ensure all materials and products are skin-safe, hygienic, and suitable for performers
- Stay updated on advancements in special effects makeup techniques and tools to maintain industry standards
- Organize and maintain an inventory of makeup products and tools, ensuring cleanliness and readiness for use
- Proven experience as a makeup artist with a specialization in casualty effects (portfolio required)
- Proficiency in using prosthetics, airbrushing, and advanced special effects makeup techniques
- Strong understanding of anatomy and the visual appearance of injuries and trauma
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work under pressure in time-sensitive environments
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, adaptable to diverse working conditions
- Certification or formal training in makeup artistry or special effects
- Familiarity with proper hygiene and safety standards when working with skin and makeup products
- Ability to work in diverse environments, including outdoor locations, live events, and on-set productions
- Availability to deploy to designated training exercises or events as required
- Experience in industries such as film, television, fashion shows, theaters, theme parks, or cruise ships is a plus
