OpSam Health is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that serves the San Diego County community. Founded in 1973 in a barber shop in Downtown San Diego by Filipino health professionals offering services to immigrants who did not have the finances, linguistic skills, or ability to navigate the health care system. Today, Operation Samahan has evolved into a diverse community health center with services available in National City, Mira Mesa, City Heights, and Rancho Penasquitos. We provide primary care, dental, behavioral health, family planning, integrative health and wellness, healthy eating, civic engagement, and other health related services to the uninsured, underinsured, and underserved families of all income levels regardless of their ability to pay.
JOB PURPOSE
The Pediatrician provides comprehensive medical care to children from infancy through adolescence, focusing on diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of illnesses. This role ensures children receive routine check-ups, vaccinations, and developmental screenings while educating families on health, nutrition, and safety. Working closely with a healthcare team, the Pediatrician advocates for child health, follows California medical standards, and maintains patient confidentiality to provide a safe and supportive care environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform routine physical examinations for children, including newborns, toddlers, and adolescents.
- Diagnose and treat childhood illnesses, injuries, infections, and medical conditions.
- Provide vaccinations and preventive care, ensuring children receive timely immunizations according to health guidelines.
- Monitor children’s growth and development, identifying potential developmental delays or concerns.
- Prescribe medications and treatments as necessary.
- Educate families and caregivers about health practices, nutrition, safety, and preventive care.
- Maintain accurate, detailed, and up-to-date patient records in compliance with legal and health standards.
- Document medical histories, diagnoses, and treatment plans.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as nurses, specialists, and therapists, to ensure comprehensive care for children.
- Make referrals to specialists when necessary and ensure follow-up care is provided.
- Offer advice and counseling to parents and guardians on child-rearing practices, nutrition, and overall health.
- Advocate for child health issues and promote public health initiatives.
- Stay current on state-specific health regulations and ensure adherence to California's medical guidelines and standards.
- Comply with confidentiality requirements, including HIPAA regulations, and other legal considerations in the care of minors.

135,000 - $165,000 annually
