What are the responsibilities and job description for the 1st Shift Process Controls Engineer position at OpSource Staffing?
OpSource has partnered with a producer of advanced composite materials, carbon fiber, and prepreg materials for aerospace and industrial markets in Moore, SC.
The Process Controls Engineer is responsible for designing and maintaining Process Control Systems that typically include Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.

Shift for the position:
- 1st Shift: 8am-5pm
Job requirements for the position may include:
- These systems provide direct, real-time or simulated control of plant production; typically controlling multiple physical devices such as motors and valves, and receiving feedback from multiple devices such as temperature, pressure and position transducers
- Gathers information concerning the capabilities of process control systems and investigate technical capabilities
- Analyzes customer problems and assist in designing systems to satisfy customer needs
- Prepares equipment analysis to instruct customers in equipment capabilities
- Documents, tests, maintains, and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions
- Determines computer user needs, analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls of limited scope
- Prepares operating instructions on assigned work
- Ensures reliability, develops technical specifications for production, analyzes hardware configuration and processing solutions, and tests hardware conformance to specifications based on well-defined processes
- Designs new or modifies existing products following specific detailed instructions
- Tests, documents, operates and maintains software and firmware components and computing systems software to be applied to and integrated with process controls mechanical and electrical systems
- Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures and tools throughout the system
- Reviews developments in hardware and software provided by higher level developers and/or managers

Qualifications for the position:
- Minimum of 3 years industrial controls experience including advanced knowledge of electrical theory and principles of operation.
- Experience and working knowledge of DCS and/or PLC hardware and software:
- Advanced proficiency with PLC, DCS, or HMI programming skills.
- Experience with system management such as backup/archiving and restoring.
- Experience of industrial control networks (OT networks) set up and troubleshooting.
- Proven ability to lead complex control engineering projects $50k-$500k .
