Job Overview : The Electrical Maintenance Technician is responsible for the installation, setup, maintenance, and repair of systems and components associated with industrial machinery and equipment used in the production and fabrication of pipes and pipe components. This is a multi-skilled position, with a primary focus on electrical and electronic maintenance. To be considered for hire, applicants must take and pass an electrical and mechanical aptitude test.
Key Responsibilities :
Adhere to all safety policies and PPE regulations, including but not limited to Confined Space Entry, Lockout / Tagout (LOTO), and Fall Protection.
Connect power supply wires to machines and equipment, as well as interconnect cables and wires between machines.
Diagnose malfunctioning equipment, including transformers, motors, lighting fixtures, control systems, and PLCs.
Test malfunctioning machinery and collaborate with supervisors to determine the root cause of issues using schematics, diagrams, manuals, PLC programs, and relevant testing equipment.
Replace faulty electrical components in machines, such as relays, switches, motors, position sensing devices, bearings, and wiring.
Properly document all activities and work orders in accordance with maintenance department guidelines.
Install specialized functional and structural parts in devices as directed for project support.
Perform preventive maintenance by lubricating and cleaning parts, replacing components, and adhering to other PM procedures.
Provide backup support for retooling activities as necessary.
Coordinate with maintenance mechanics to fulfill overall plant maintenance requirements.
Perform other duties as directed by management.
Minimum Qualifications :
Physically capable of performing essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Proficient in reading and comprehending simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Capable of writing simple correspondence.
Effective communication skills for presenting information in one-on-one and small group settings.
Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in various units of measure, as well as the ability to compute ratios and percentages.
Ability to read and interpret linear and circumference measurements using tape measures and calipers.
Problem-solving skills for addressing practical issues in variable situations with limited standardization.
Competent in reading, understanding, and interpreting instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule forms.
Proficient in data entry into existing computer software, following on-screen prompts or written instructions.
Ability to read blueprints and interpret electrical / electronic schematics.
Familiarity with reading and interpreting safety instructions, operating instructions, and general work guidelines.
Capability to perform multi-skilled tasks, including basic electrical repair and wiring, mechanical maintenance, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical drives, and advanced electrical controls and automation.
Preferred Qualifications :
Electrical / Mechanical Maintenance Certification is preferred.
Knowledge of electronic and electro-hydraulic systems is an advantage.
Welding knowledge is a plus.
Essential Physical Functions :
Regularly required to use hands to manipulate objects, and talk or hear.
Frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Occasionally required to climb or balance.
Must regularly lift / move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift / move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift / move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
