Job Overview : The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing maintenance tasks that require advanced technical knowledge of automated equipment. This role involves troubleshooting and repairing complex equipment breakdowns, which includes both mechanical and electrical components. The technician will analyze failures and recommend improvements when necessary to ensure optimal equipment performance.
Key Responsibilities :
- Adhere to all safety policies and PPE protocols, including Confined Space Entry, Lockout / Tagout (LOTO), and Fall Protection.
- Collaborate with maintenance supervision to prioritize maintenance projects.
- Diagnose mechanical issues in equipment to identify the root causes of malfunctions, using appropriate tools and testing equipment.
- Dismantle devices to gain access to defective parts and perform repairs or replacements as needed.
- Inspect used parts to evaluate any changes in dimensional requirements.
- Install, repair, and maintain plant machinery, including piping, hydraulic systems, and auxiliary equipment.
- Quickly troubleshoot plant equipment and respond to breakdowns with urgency.
- Conduct inspections to diagnose and resolve issues in equipment operation.
- Connect power supply wires and cables between machines and equipment.
- Diagnose faulty apparatus, including transformers, motors, lighting systems, and PLCs.
- Test malfunctioning machinery and collaborate with supervisors to identify issues using schematics and manuals.
- Replace defective electrical components such as relays, switches, motors, and wiring.
- Provide support for retooling activities as required.
- Install functional and structural parts as needed for project support.
- Perform preventive maintenance, including lubricating parts, cleaning, and following established PM procedures.
- Start devices and assess their performance post-maintenance.
- Operate metalworking tools, such as lathes, drill presses, and grinders, to fabricate and repair parts.
- Initiate work orders for corrective maintenance tasks.
- Change tooling as required.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all work activities in accordance with maintenance department guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with other technicians to meet overall plant maintenance needs.
- Complete other tasks as directed by management.
