Engineering Manager

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Engineering Manager to lead a closed die forging engineering department. In this critical role, you will oversee a team of engineers, providing technical guidance, managing projects, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to optimize forging processes and tooling design. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of impression die hot forging, expertise in simulation software like DEFORM, and a proven track record of leadership and problem-solving.

POSITION IS LOCATED IN DETROIT, MI - $25K RELOCATION PACKAGE AVAILABLE

Responsibilities :

• Leadership & Team Management : Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
• Delegate tasks effectively, manage work schedules, and conduct performance evaluations.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to team members on forging processes, tooling design, and problem resolution.
• Process Optimization : Analyze production activities, identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety.
• Evaluate and optimize existing forging processes and tooling designs to reduce costs and improve product quality.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives, applying lean manufacturing principles and best practices.
• Tooling Design & Simulation : Oversee the design, development, and implementation of new forging and support tooling.
• Utilize DEFORM and other simulation software to analyze material flow, predict potential issues, and optimize tooling performance.
• Troubleshoot tooling issues and implement corrective actions to ensure production efficiency and product quality.
• Collaboration & Communication : Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, purchasing, and sales.
• Work closely with vendors and suppliers to manage service contracts and ensure timely procurement of materials and equipment.
• Prepare and present technical reports and presentations to communicate project updates, analysis findings, and improvement recommendations.
