As a Low Voltage Technology Designer at Optima Engineering, you will be responsible for designing and developing low voltage systems for various commercial, government, university and K-12 projects. Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop low voltage electrical systems, including Telecommunications/Structured Cabling, Security and Access Control and Audio/Video Systems
- Create detailed electrical schematics, drawings, and specifications using industry-standard software
- Conduct site assessments and develop tailored solutions based on project requirements
- Perform calculations and analysis to ensure compliance with electrical codes, standards, and industry best practices
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other team members to develop comprehensive plans
- Review project drawings and provide technical guidance on low voltage electrical systems
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends in low voltage system design
- 4-5 years of experience in low voltage technology system design
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
- Strong understanding of electrical codes and standards, particularly NEC and BICSI
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD)
- AVIXA Certified Technology Specialist (CTS)
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, other technical education or equivalent technical experience
- Low voltage system design
- Project management
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving
- Attention to detail
- Team collaboration
- Office-based with occasional site visits for assessments and inspections
- Collaborative work with cross-functional teams
