Overview

As a Low Voltage Technology Designer at Optima Engineering, you will be responsible for designing and developing low voltage systems for various commercial, government, university and K-12 projects. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create efficient, safe, and innovative solutions for our clients. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects, contribute to cutting-edge designs, and grow your expertise in low voltage technology systems within a dynamic MEP firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop low voltage electrical systems, including Telecommunications/Structured Cabling, Security and Access Control and Audio/Video Systems
  • Create detailed electrical schematics, drawings, and specifications using industry-standard software
  • Conduct site assessments and develop tailored solutions based on project requirements
  • Perform calculations and analysis to ensure compliance with electrical codes, standards, and industry best practices
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other team members to develop comprehensive plans
  • Review project drawings and provide technical guidance on low voltage electrical systems
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends in low voltage system design

Qualifications

  • 4-5 years of experience in low voltage technology system design
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
  • Strong understanding of electrical codes and standards, particularly NEC and BICSI
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Certifications & Education

  • Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD)
  • AVIXA Certified Technology Specialist (CTS)
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, other technical education or equivalent technical experience
