Position Title: Skills Training and Development (STAD) Paraprofessional
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Overview:
Optima Health Care Systems is seeking a dedicated Skills Training and Development (STAD) Paraprofessional to provide treatment services to adults and adolescents facing substance use disorders. This role focuses on assisting clients in an outpatient setting by providing essential skills training to support their recovery. The STAD Paraprofessional will help clients develop coping strategies for managing trauma, family and peer conflict, mental health disorders, substance abuse, grief and loss, relational issues, and community re-engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Skills Training & Development:
- Facilitate skills training and development groups based on the client’s established care plan, supporting individuals and groups in achieving specific treatment goals.
- Provide ongoing skills training, including communication, problem-solving, and stress management to clients with substance use disorders.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation of all client services within 24 hours of service provision, adhering to clinical documentation standards.
- Monitor and document clients’ ongoing progress toward established treatment goals, ensuring continuous improvement and effective service delivery.
- Participate in weekly clinical team meetings to provide updates on client progress and treatment plan developments.
- Collaboration & Professional Development:
- Work closely with the Clinical Supervisor to develop and implement a Professional Development Plan within the first week of employment, adhering to all conditions of clinical supervision.
- Engage in training and development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in evidence-based treatment strategies, including the use of ASAM criteria and related methodologies.
- Ethical & Legal Compliance:
- Maintain a high standard of ethical conduct, demonstrating a strong commitment to upholding professional ethics and the principles of confidentiality in all interactions.
- Ensure compliance with privacy and confidentiality regulations in the provision of substance use disorder treatment, following all applicable laws and guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a health or human services field (Required).
- Certifications & Training:
- Optum Idaho Skills Training and Development (STAD) endorsement and General Foundation Training Plan completion, or ability to obtain these within one week of hire (Required).
- Completion of training in the use of ASAM criteria, or ability to complete this training within the first 30 days of employment (Required).
- 2 years of experience in the treatment of mental health disorders or current PRA (Peer Recovery Advocate) certification (Required).
- Experience:
- Previous experience providing skills training or other behavioral health services, with a demonstrated understanding of mental health and substance use treatment.
- Other Requirements:
- Ability to pass an Enhanced Criminal Background Investigation through the Idaho Department of Health & Welfare (Required).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively document and report client progress.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the treatment of individuals with substance use disorders (Preferred).
- Certification or training in additional evidence-based therapeutic techniques or recovery strategies (Preferred).
