Optimae LifeServices in Ames is expanding our Youth Program; therefore, are seeking full-time Residential Based Supported Community Living (RBSCL) Professionals (DSPs). A variety of shifts are available. Residential Based Supported Community Living Services (RBSCL) are intended to help people under the age of 18 with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live independently in their communities. RBSCL Services work to eliminate barriers to family reunification and develop self-help skills for maximum independence. These services are provided in the customer’s home and community, and are available 24 hours a day as needed.
RBSCL Services help customers develop, increase and maintain social skills (i.e. problem resolution, conflict resolution, appropriate relationships with others and techniques for controlling behavior). Family support development is included. The RBSCL Support Professional works alongside other staff members in a residential site home providing daily services to our customers. They work with customers on their goals (medication management, socialization, mental health, daily living skills, community integration, etc.) as well as has strong crisis management skills and communication. Within this role, the RBSCL Support Professional will work to create structure and fun within the customer’s days including community activities and daily routines. Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED with 4 or more years of experience in human services or related field.
- Associates Degree with 3 or more years of experience in human services or related field.
- Bachelor’s Degree with 2 or more years of experience in human services or related field.
- Must have a valid Iowa drivers’ license, a safe driving record, and proof of adequate automobile insurance.
Knowledge and training in the following is preferred:
- Crisis Prevention and Intervention
- C3 De-escalation
- Adolescent Mental Health First Aide
- Positive Behavioral Supports
- Trauma Informed Care
- Childhood Trauma and Secondary Trauma
- Motivational Interviewing
