Job Overview
We are seeking a Low Voltage Technician to join our team; eager to grow current skills or learn a new trade. This opening is for individuals with construction experience, looking to transition to a new career field pertaining to security and IT cabling systems installation and service. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of low voltage systems, including cabling and telecommunications infrastructure. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical systems and the ability to work in various environments, ensuring that all installations meet industry standards and client specifications.
Responsibilities
- Build out telecommunications closets, install cable support systems which consist of cable trays, j-hooks and ladder rack trays.
- Install Cat6 cable, fiber optic cable, fire/burglar alarm cable, and access control cabling systems.
- Terminate connections for all cabling systems to include fiber optic splicing and termination.
- Perform copper cable testing / troubleshooting.
- Become a specialist in fire/burglar alarm systems as it pertains to cabling.
- Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and maintenance activities.
- Demonstrate a clear knowledge of cable installation requirements and codes.
Skills
- Proficiency in cabling techniques and telecommunication system installations.
- Strong electrical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot low voltage systems effectively.
- Ability to perform fiber splicing accurately and efficiently.
- Competence in using testing tools such as an ohmmeter for diagnostics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with clients and team members.
- Maintain a positive attitude and professional dress and demeanor.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

- Must be able to work on ladders and use power tools.
- Must have Physical ability to pick up 50 pounds, work in confined spaces, reach, bend, lift, kneel, crawl, stand, walk great distances, and carry material.

- Must be a licensed driver.
- Must be fluent in reading, writing and speaking the English language.
