What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chassis Product Engineer position at Optimal Staffing?
Job Description:
- The wheel engineer is responsible for the development of wheel diversity and allocation across a new model project, and all variants requiring unique wheels.
- This engineer works directly with the studio on new wheel style and concept designs.
- The engineer determines the appropriate wheel offset, pilot bores, wheel mounting face and bolt pattern, rim flange design, TRA/ETRTO compatibility, structural integrity via FEA analysis, bearing package, wheel brake package.
- The result is a wheel design which meets the design and integrity of the product specification and is feasible to manufacture.
- The engineer works directly with studio designers, studio CAE engineers, and chassis designers.
- Interface with chassis brake and driveline engineers, as well as CCLP project team.
- The resulting wheel designs are then forwarded to the execution team (wheel release engineers) to prepare sourcing documents for business placement, then proceeds with final wheel design and development and testing for validation.
Requirements:
- Onsite 4-5 days per week
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- If a recent college graduates, 3.0 GPA minimum
- 2 years of wheel engineering design and development experience
- Demonstration of automobile interest (automobile hobby, college project)
- Demonstration of passion to work in the automotive industry.
Additional Information:
- Candidates will need to be on Company's W2. There is not an option for C2C.
