Position overview:
The Director of Quality is responsible for establishing the product quality and compliance strategy for all operations at Wood Dale and for managing the processes necessary to ensure conformance within manufacturing and the central laboratory for North America. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: defining legal, customer, and product specific requirements; adherence to quality system standards; advanced quality planning; manufacturing process controls; risk management; coordination and control of product changes; non-conforming product analysis; product inspections; corrective action management; and supplier management.
The ideal candidate has a good blend of strategic vision, manufacturing knowledge, problem solving expertise, failure analysis methodology, metrology, and interpersonal skills to ensure product shipped by Optimas conforms to all specifications, regulatory requirements, and internal business objectives.
Main responsibilities:
- Strategy
- Determination of legal, customer, and product specific requirement.
- Development of processes to ensure to comply with all legal, customer, and product specific requirements.
- Implementation of audit controls to ensure compliance.
- Support Internal Audits.
- KPI management: Cost of Poor Quality, PPM.
- QMS Management Review.
- Advanced Quality Planning
- Ensure knowledge and use of AIAG Core Tools Leadership: PFD, PFMEA, and PCP.
- Development of PFD, PFMEA, and PCP.
- Completion and accuracy of PPAP submission and subsequent requirements.
- Product Assurance
- Establishment of clear product requirements and gaging methods in conjunction with Engineering.
- Development and deployment effective process control plans.
- Implementation of audit controls to ensure compliance.
- Layered Process Audits
- Product Audits
- Product or Process Non-Conformance & Joint Failure Analysis
- Ensure organizational understanding and application of problem-solving tools.
- Development of laboratory and testing capabilities to effectively complete failure analysis.
- Implementation of a robust corrective and preventative action process.
- Management of customer corrective actions, internal corrective actions, supplier corrective actions.
- Customer Liaison and first point of escalation for customer issues.
- Collaborate with our Distribution Centers to ensure compliance to quality processes.

Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in a manufacturing.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in automotive manufacturing.
- Minimum 2 years’ fastener experience.
- Minimum 2 years’ senior leadership experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or material sciences.
- AIAG Core Tools: APQP, PPAP, MSA, SPC, FMEA
- IATF 16949 Internal or Lead Auditor highly preferred
- Inspection, Metrology, Metallurgical Analysis Interpretation.
- GD&T, Print Review, Understanding and interpretation of engineering specifications (IFI, ASME, etc). Fastener experience highly preferred.
- Lean and Six Sigma experience
