Position overview:

The Senior Design Engineer for WDM reports to the Engineering Design Manager for WDM. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

• Lead designer on new product family development.
• Lead designer on multi-die product development.
• Lead technical expert on progression design assessment software (currently Deform).
• Lead technical expert for 3D design (currently Autodesk Inventor).

The ideal candidate will have extensive tool design experience and significant exposure to fastener manufacturing processes and equipment. 

Main responsibilities:

• Product Family Development
  • Perform initial design for manufacturing review.
  • Outline manufacturability issues.
  • Develop product progressions and design tools.
  • Shop floor support.
• Multi-Die Product Development
  • Perform initial design for manufacturing review.
  • Assess development complexity.
  • Recommend design engineer.
  • Shop floor support.
  • Support training of colleagues.
• Progression Design Assessment Software
  • Lead selection process for software.
  • Achieve resident expert status.
  • Train colleagues.
• 3D Design Software
  • Lead selection process for software.
  • Achieve resident expert status.
  • Train colleagues.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in manufacturing.
• Minimum 10 years’ fastener tool design experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or material sciences preferred.
• Inspection, Metrology, Metallurgical Analysis Interpretation.
• GD&T, Print Review, Understanding and interpretation of engineering specifications (IFI, ASME, etc). Fastener experience highly preferred.
