Head of Marketing, Communications & Brand

Optimism is seeking a strategic and visionary Head of Marketing, Communications & Brand who is passionate about Ethereum, blockchain technology, and decentralized systems. In this role, you will lead the development and execution of our marketing, communications & branding strategies to build brand awareness, engage our community, and drive adoption across the Superchain.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of developer and user personas, possess strong leadership skills, and a data-driven approach to forming hypotheses, measuring progress, and evaluating results. You should have passion for the Ethereum ecosystem and the L2 landscape, including trends and audience behaviors, to drive sustainable growth.

What are the role responsibilities?

• Develop and formalize comprehensive marketing and communication strategies that align with the Collective’s vision & growth objectives — set measurable goals to track and optimize team performance.
• Drive growth across key audiences (DeFi users, application developers, and Superchain Interop ecosystems) through adoption, mindshare, and retention throughout the Superchain.
• Shape Optimism’s brand narrative and positioning; develop a strong narrative that aligns with the community, and Optimism values.
• Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing marketing, communications & brand team, ensuring a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams including product, governance, and engineering leads to ensure the effective execution of marketing strategy.
• Build strong relationships with key stakeholders and founders.
  
  

What skills do you bring?

• 10 years of experience in marketing, with 5 years in a leadership role ideally within the crypto industry.
• Proven track record in developing and executing successful marketing campaigns, including user acquisition and product adoption onchain.
• Strong understanding of blockchain technology, including key verticals like DeFi and its growth drivers like TVL, and the broader landscape.
• Excellent analytical, strategic, and communication skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions — excellent leadership & management skills, you genuinely enjoy managing teams!
• A passion for technology, and crypto and a deep understanding of its potential impact on the future of finance and technology.
