What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Machine Operator- Lathe & Mill position at Optimized Personnel Solutions?
Job Summary: We're a global leader in the design, Engineering, and manufacturing of oil and gas drilling equipment and downhole tools. Our specialties include complex precision machining, API-certified threading, and advanced metallurgy to enhance drilling performance. Our company is experiencing strong growth and is seeking high character and high-caliber talent to join our team! Day Shift: M-F with occasional Saturdays depending on workload.
Responsibilities:
- Ability to produce quality, high-value precision parts with CNC Machines.
- Mill: Operate and program a Varnsdorf and Giddings & Lewis 3 to 5-axis CNC HBM with Heidenhain Control System.
- Lathe: Operate and program an O-M Ltd. CNC VTL with Fanuc Control System.
- Interpret technical blueprints and designs to understand the specifications and requirements of parts.
- Perform machine setups with little to no assistance and be familiar with fixtures.
- Edit programs on the machine to maintain tolerances related to material movement and tool wear.
- Knowledge of optimal toll selections, speeds, and calculations.
- Measure completed parts to verify conformance to specifications using measurement tools, including ball gauges, calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, etc.
- Ability to identify problems and/or defects, correct and prevent quality issues.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and inspections.
- Follow safety procedures & company policies. Conscious of maintaining a safe work environment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in oil and gas manufacturing or production environment.
- At least 5 years of experience in operating and programming CNC machines with Fanuc and Heidenheim systems.
- At least 2 years of experience in manufacturing drilling equipment or components, especially Blowout Preventers (BOPs).
- Working knowledge of manufacturing and remanufacturing processes and requirements per API Q1, API 6A, API 16A, and API 16AR.
- Working knowledge of methods, tools, and techniques used in repair and maintenance of CNC machines.
- Working knowledge of machining and handling various materials, including carbon alloy steel, stainless steel, and Inconel.
