Job Summary:
Well established Dallas-based employee-owned architectural metal company with a nationwide customer base is looking to hire a CAD Designer/Detailer with mechanical aptitude and a focus on high standards of quality. Motivated by a great work ethic and attitude the CAD Designer/Detailer will produce erection, and shop fabrication drawings for architectural/ornamental and light structural metals. Primary products are stairs, railing systems, and light structural applications. With good all-around organizational and communication skills, the CAD Designer/Detailer will interface with all persons involved in the product and interpret architectural/engineering drawings to produce erection and fabrication drawings. This is a position that requires a strong work ethic, and willingness to learn and assist, to help complete projects in a timely fashion.
Responsibilities:
- Review structural and architectural drawings and specifications for conflicts/questions.
- Miscellaneous steel detailing - stairs, ladders, and railings.
- Structural steel detailing may also be required.
- Work with Project Management to create RFIs.
- Checking contract documents, RFI's, specifications, etc. to ensure drawings are accurate.
- Use AutoCAD to create shop drawings and erection plans.
- Adhere to applicable building codes and company design standards.
- Review and revise drawings based on engineering calculations, architect's notes and instructions, and field conditions.
- Assist fabricators with questions, as necessary.
- Revise drawings as directed through accepted bulletins and contract changes assist in the definition of contract bid packages and coordinate scopes of work.
- Communicate and reinforce the company's vision, values, and goals.
- Perform additional assignments per the supervisor’s direction.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of AutoCAD experience.
- 2 years of construction related industry experience.
- High School Diploma.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD 2013 or higher.
- Proficiency in basic math, geometry, and trigonometry.
- Familiar with metal shapes and properties in ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
- 3D experience is a very big plus.
- Checking experience is a very big plus.
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Capable of passing a background and drug test.
- Metal Fabrication experience is a plus.
