Job Description:
We are seeking a patient and motivated Direct Support Professional to help us provide supported living services (SLS) to adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities who are receiving support through the North Bay Regional Center, for whom we are a CFS and SLS vendor.
In this role, you will provide essential support and care to individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities, helping them achieve their personal goals and enhance their quality of life. You will work closely with clients in their homes and communities, offering assistance with activities of daily living, promoting independence, and ensuring their continued safety and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist clients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, shopping, and household chores.
- Support clients in developing and maintaining social relationships and participating in community activities.
- Implement individualized support plans and document progress and outcomes.
- Administer medications and provide basic healthcare support as needed.
- Ensure a safe, clean living environment for clients.
- Advocate for clients' needs and rights.
- Collaborate with other team members, the individual's circle of support, the regional center, and other service providers to deliver comprehensive care.
- Participate in training and professional development activities to stay current with best practices and regulatory requirements.
Requirements:
- 1 year experience working with individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
- CPR/First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
- Weekend/Holiday/Overnight availability.
- Negative TB test within the past year (or willingness to obtain).
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Minimum coverage car insurance.
- Able to pass DOJ/FBI LiveScan background check.
- Understanding of and adherence to legal and ethical obligations as a DSP/caregiver.
- Previous experience as a behavior technician preferred but not required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Compassionate and pragmatic approach to working with clients and their families.
