Job Summary
The Personal Support Specialist (PSS) plays a vital role in providing compassionate care and support to individuals in various settings, including assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and home care environments. Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and meal preparation.
- Monitor and record vital signs to ensure the health and safety of clients.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to enhance the quality of life for clients.
- Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behavior and reduce challenging behaviors.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and family members to develop personalized care plans.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients by adhering to health and safety standards.
- Document care provided and any changes in client condition accurately and timely.
- Participate in training sessions to stay current on best practices in personal support services.
Requirements
- Certification or training in First Aid is preferred.
- Experience in social work or a related field is advantageous.
- Familiarity with vital signs monitoring and basic healthcare practices is essential.
- Previous experience in assisted living, nursing home settings, or home care is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of ADLs and the ability to assist clients effectively is required.
- Experience in behavior management techniques is beneficial.
- A compassionate approach towards working with individuals with developmental disabilities is essential.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team are necessary.
