Optimum Furniture and Millwork is a quickly expanding commercial millwork firm. We've got a great core group of office employees with an amazing work culture, and we're looking for someone to join our team as a full-time Estimator. We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator, with specific experience in the millwork industry. The Estimator will play a crucial role in the pre-construction process by accurately assessing project costs and providing detailed estimates to Contractors for various types of millwork projects. This position requires strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of millwork materials and labor items, the ability to negotiate and communicate effectively with contractors.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for millwork projects, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
- Utilize estimating software such as Bluebeam, Excel, and Innergy to create comprehensive estimates.
- Collaborate with project managers to develop budgets and monitor costs throughout the project lifecycle.
- Conduct site visits to gather necessary information for accurate estimating.
- Negotiate contracts with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing.
- Maintain organized records of estimates, proposals, and contracts for future reference.
- Assist in project management tasks as needed to ensure timely completion of projects.
- Follow up with contractors after submitting bids in order to provide Optimum with the best chance to win the project.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in millwork estimating.
- Strong knowledge of AWI standards and ability to incorporate them into proposals.
- Familiarity with project management principles within the millwork industry.
- Proficiency in using Excel, Bluebeam, or similar estimating software.
- Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable terms from vendors and subcontractors.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in reviewing project specifications.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- A degree in Construction Management or related field is preferred but not required.
Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
