Job Summary
The Fitness Assistant assists in the development and planning of member activities while driving the mission by providing an exceptional experience for our members. Activities include arts & crafts, games, and other active programs.
Essential Functions
- Provides receptionist services which include answering the phone, greeting all customers and providing useful and accurate assistance as requested.
Standards:
a. Utilizes effective communication skills by providing information in a clear and accurate manner.
b. Demonstrates working knowledge of Information Desk areas and processes and/or policies relevant to area services.
c. Answers all calls by the third ring.
d. Maintains a smile on the face and a cheerful and pleasant attitude in the voice at all times.
e. Professionally greets members and name recognition . - Identifies actual and potential customer concerns and/or needs/discrepancies and follows up with appropriate persons for resolution. Standards:
a. Takes responsibility to proactively identify issues and seek resolution.
b. Keeps Director apprised of any unresolved issues or concerns which may impact customer satisfaction. - Provide the highest level of customer services and creates a “5-star experience” to members, prospective members and guests. Standards:
a. Follows standards of behavior and Community Cares guidelines.
b. Utilizes AIDET tool. - Gives tours to members and guests of the facility and help answer questions. Standards:
a. Ability to answer customer questions.
b. Assists in management of member accounts and billing questions. - Aids other departments with related tasks. Standards:
a. Assist with projects as requested.
b. Maintains an orderly and clean work area. - Participates in gathering feedback from customers regarding satisfaction level with services provided at the Information Desk. Standards:
a. Collects guest satisfaction feedback according to prescribed process/schedule. - Assists guests with proper usage of fitness machines. Standards:
a. Able to explain/show proper technique of fitness equipment.
b. Communicates purpose of fitness equipment and intended usage. - Create a unique and memorable relationship with each new child and parent team.
- Helps to plan, organize, and/or find activities for children to do while their caregiver is using the OPS Fitness Club (e.g. color, read books, play games, and participate in group activities).
- Provides short term care of infants, toddlers and young children in the child care center.
- Communicates with children’s parents or guardians about daily activities, behaviors, and related issues.
- Assists the Youth Activities Coordinator in the development of educational and movement type age appropriate activities to help foster healthy and active lifestyles.
- Provide a safe, clean atmosphere for children.
- Create a fun, playful, family friendly environment.
- Maintain neat, professional attire and a courteous, helpful attitude.
- Sanitizes toys and play equipment, as well as vacuums space regularly.
- Collaborates with team members to build a highly effective team environment and accomplish team goals.
- Fosters and grows strong relationships with our fitness facility members.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree Related fitness or health field preferred
- 1-2 years customer service required
- 1-3 years children's services preferred

- Knowledge of basic exercise physiology and fitness principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with diverse populations.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Ability to demonstrate proper exercise techniques.
- Organizational skills to maintain a clean and safe fitness area.
- Ability to assist with fitness assessments and orientations.
- Familiarity with fitness equipment and maintenance procedures.
- Ability to motivate and support members in their fitness goals.
Licenses and Certifications
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within 30 days required
