A dynamic energy company in Florida is looking for a Middle Office Power/Gas Risk Analyst to support risk management functions, monitor market positions, and optimize trading activities across power and gas markets. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with front-office traders, back-office teams, and senior leadership to ensure smooth, efficient operations and effective risk management.

NOTE: This client is located in Florida and candidates need to be in the office weekly (hybrid schedule) to be considered. Relocation assistance may be available for the right candidate.

What You’ll Do:

• Risk Management: Monitor, analyze, and report on power and gas trading activities, ensuring positions are aligned with client risk tolerances and business objectives.
• Market Position Analysis: Review and validate trading positions, including physical and financial deals, to ensure risk exposure is properly assessed.
• Hedging & Strategy Support: Assist in the development of hedging strategies to mitigate risk and optimize performance for client portfolios across power and gas markets.
• Data & Reporting:
• Conduct daily risk reporting for market positions, including value at risk (VaR) and exposure metrics.
• Support the automation and improvement of reporting processes to ensure timely and accurate data delivery.
• Cross-Department Collaboration: Work with traders, analysts, and back-office teams to resolve discrepancies, optimize processes, and improve risk management workflows.
• Client Communication & Support: Support traders in interacting with clients by ensuring accurate risk data and helping communicate risk management strategies.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement, automation, and risk mitigation, contributing to ongoing efforts to enhance operational efficiency.

What You Bring:

• Skills & Experience:
• 2 years of experience in risk analysis or middle office functions, ideally within the energy or commodities sectors.
• Familiarity with risk metrics, trading strategies, and hedging mechanisms in power and gas markets.
• Proficiency with Excel and knowledge of reporting tools; Python or R experience is a plus.
• ETRM experience – Allegro Horizon a plus
• Strong understanding of power and gas markets (e.g., NYISO, NEPOOL), including regional transmission organization (RTO) structures.
• Analytical & Technical Skills: Strong problem-solving skills and a deep interest in leveraging technology to improve risk management processes and reporting.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to analyze large datasets and identify potential issues, ensuring risk and exposure data is accurate.
• Communication Skills: Effective communicator with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and interact with clients and stakeholders.
• Self-Motivated & Growth-Oriented: Strong desire to learn, grow, and adapt in a fast-paced, ever-changing energy market environment.
